Technomate 6900 Ci & Card reader slots

I have a Technomate 6900 and very happy with it.
Two quick questions, I hope someone can help

1) at the moment, until i get a motorised set up, i am stuck on astra (28.2E). What are the CI and card reader slots for? can i use them yet? or will they only be useful when i can use another satellite?

2) i understand that the Freesat service will have a full EPG (7+ days). Is it likely that Technomate or a Darkaman patch will enable that feature? That is one thing that i miss - only having now & next on the epg

The CI slots are for cams, these are modules that you would use with a viewing card, but fairly redundant in the 6900 as once you have patched your receiver the card slots become multi card readers meaning the receiver will read any card apart from a Sky one. Also once patched the receiver will open some channels on other satellites that are normally encrypted.

Ony Freesat or Sky digiboxes have a full 7 day EPG its to do with the s/w and licensing, you will only get now and next info.
