A Definitive Mediaportal guide???

Guys,

999 was kind enough to post his guide to installing mediaportal for a dvb-c card.
However, a combination of me being thick and possibly 999's pidgin english, has led to muchos confusionos.

Would someone mind producing a more detailed 'paint by numbers' guide on how to install/configure mediaportal and its relevent plugins, for the TT C-1501 card please?

I installed it last night, but unlike 999's instructions i let MP install its own mysql. After waiting ages for installation/configuration it kept bombing when i launched it.

files need:..install in order
1:install mysql..(download dont use the 1 in MP dont forget yor password)

Eh? It was part of the MP installation. I assume there is a checkbox to uncheck to skip mysql installation? If so, where do i then get it from and what is this password you mention?

2.install MediaPortal_Setup_1.0_RC1_Refesh..(when setting up look out for advanced setting after seleting wacht hd tv ect selet advanced click on use mysql already is in stalled)

3:install MediaPortal_0.2.3.0_RC3_Setup

Don't even know where this is. It's not in the download section from http://www.team-mediaportal.com/download.html

4:download MediaPortal_TV_Server..(a rar file contain these files there are more in there but not try yet )..

Ok, from what i understand this is included in the main download package for install MediaPortal_Setup_1.0_RC1_Refesh??

(put ..MDPlugins..#register.bat..FFDecsa.dll..mdapifilt er.ax)..into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server
then run register.bat from folder

I assume this will become clear once i get this far?

4:install your transponned file goes in..C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TuningParameters

Is this transponder file particular to my area> n*l nottingham? If so, where do i get it from?

5:install vplug to...C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\MDPlugins

Ok, i think.

6:start TV-Server Configuration
7:mysql will start put in pass word and test hopefully it will work
8:MP console will start
9:click on tvservers with in console
10:controlpanel/Administrative Tools/services..(check to make sure mysql and tvservices are started if not start them)xp users

I'm running vist hp 32-bit, hope it works.

Thanks for any help offered. I'm sure i'm not the only one still scratching their heads over getting MP to work.

hi mate.
am in the same boat as you.. need a good guide to start me off.
i did get mp to work to get fta channels tho..
1 st google "MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC3" it should find you the right mp.
2 you need to edit the tw dvbc file in the tuningparameters folder to your setting.

MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC3 is more stable
and does not contain mslq
if u have trouble fining files pm and i send u them through msn
ps 1 thing i forgot u need to go to services in window...look for mslq and tv servcies log on tab and check to interact with desk top
