i can connect via crossover cable into my router but not straight to the PC. Iv tried what all the forums say about setting the ip address for the network card, i have 3 different network cards tried on all 3 but doesnt connect what am i doing wrong. I can still connect through router i just put it in open flashFXP and its working just not straight into PC.

Hi Mate,
Are you sure the cable is a cross over? From what you describe it sounds like you have a normal ethernet/CAT5 Cable, especially if your PC connects to the router successfully on the same cable. Compare the two ends of the cable to one another. have a close look and if you have a cross over cable you should notice that on one end the two middle pair of wires are swapped over. If they are then you have a cross over, if they are identical then your have a normal ethernet cable. |

pull out the ethernet wire frm your pc,make sure ur ip add on pc is 1 digit lower than your dbox,for eg(198.162.1.9)for your dbox and (192.168.1.8)for your pc.i set my dns and default gateway @ (192.168.1.0).then go to view network connections,go dwn 2 properties,highlight internet protocol,click properties and then enter ur ip add etc etc.connect your crosover to your dbox and bobs your uncle.click thanx if this helps m8

CHEERS for help evry1 probly using a ethernet cable doesnt matter tho i can still use FLASHFXP by puttin into my router so its ok. Im using the wire that u get with a PS3 the black cable so probly is ethernet cable.
Can also flash using just a null cable so its all good THANX FOR ALL UR HELP |
