Default Quick question pls..

Hi all,

I've managed to borrow my mates TM6900 for the weekend to see if i want to go for one. As mentioned in an earlier thread, i currently on have the existing Sky minidish, which i believe is pointing at Astra 1 19e. Whilst i immediately got BBC HD and ITV HD, LUXE HD and FTA channels (which looked great) i wondered if you could tell me what other other subscription channels should (if any) be opened up by using a patch. I upgraded to the latest patch, soft cam and someone elses channels list when i got it home.

All of the channels under the various CAM's have a $ symbol, so i'm guessing these are S*y.

Thanks in advance,

Shaun

Hi Shaun, your dish is pointing at Astra (28E). There is nothing you can do to watch the $ channels with that receiver without getting a subscriptin to Sky or an FTV card. Even then you would need additional hardware. (a CAM).

Hi Robbo,

Cheers for the quick response

Ok, at least i know now. My house actually faces virtually directly south so my biggest concern is replacing the minidish with something like an 80cm motorised solution. Is there an option that would allow me to access as many satellites as possible but maybe keep the dish size down? Or are there any discrete (ish) dishes..lol How do the 80cm wire mesh ones perform.

Thanks for your patience,

Shaun

The best way to keep the dish size down is to go motorised. The dish doesn't have to be big as such, but the bigger it is the better. An 80cm dish should be fine, 1m is better, but if you only want to go up to 80 then its up to you.

The mesh dishes are normally cheap quality rubbish, you might as well get a solid one. One of the Triax dishes would be OK, something like the TD88.

Also read a few good reports about the Fracarro Penta dish, that is about 85cm.

Also you can get transparent dishes.
