Yeh have to agree, it's a clone.

The main giveaway's are the red paint on the screws and the black instead of green items on the power board.

cheers all much appreciated cannot get hold of the seller on ebay shock horror, was the girlfriend that ordered it so cant shout at her to much for it hahaha, have ordered a jtag program and a new capacitor anyway see what happens but thanks again for all ur help

As Lucky has pointed out I wouldnt go and jtag it just yet. As the cap looks to be the problem.

ok so i removed the circuit board with the faulty capacitor when i turned it over the board was black behingd where the inverter is so i got a new inverter from maplins and it blew after 2 seconds lol, so i got an old sky box out and took an inverter out of it and soldered it in and when i did the box came on working but now when i plug the antenna in its coming up no signal, anyone got any new ideas lol. im a pain in the ar** i know lol

You need to plug the co-ax into the RF IN socket

Wasn't trying to be funny cos you did say you had connected up the antenna and there is an ANT socket on the box.

Unfortunately there ain't no clone safe firmware that I'm aware of for the MaxV's otherwise I'd say re-flash the box.
