Another way to fit the motor, is to fit the motor onto the vertical pole first, but with the motor output shaft removed. Fit the motor output shaft to the dish. Then fit the dish and motor shaft to the motor. This is what my STAB manual says to do.

Also I would n't worry worry about the dish elevation too much, as satman says, he uses his meter, I use my receiver as the meter instead, the dish elevation just needs adjusting for max quality signal on a transponder on the sat closest to your due south (onece the dish has been sent there using USALS).

Not getting on quite yet aarrggghhhh - I'm currently in work and then have to play football straight after...

There's always some distraction :-)

So I'm gonna be right on it after footy, and a bit of food...

One more question I have through - read the install a diseqc guide, which is v good btw, but what does this mean?

Use your compass if you have one and ensure you have made the required adjustment to your azimuth setting for the magnetic variation at your location

eh? Is this important or should I just point it roughly at south :-)

Thanks!!

Rough South is fine. It's only a few Degs difference anyway.

What the manual is saying is to find true South rather than Magnetic South and adjust as required.

You should be able to find THOR 0.8W if you are using the receiver signal screen or in-line meter. Make sure you select Transponder 11.325 for BBc World on the receiver first. This is what I use for reference.

Don't forget to send the motor to THOR 0.8/1W first before you move the motor together with the dish around the pole

Excellent - Guess what, what back from footy... well almost back and it started raining!!!!!

What has happened to the summer...

I must apologise to anyone living in the Cheshire area because I'm sure the turn in weather is directly related to my purchase of the satellite system...

Arrrgghhh!!!

Yes plan your install and just pick a nice clear afternoon. Send the family away for the day so they don't hear you swear when you get it wrong a few times , LOL

I'm on!!!! mostly...

Well got a clear evening yesterday so jumped at the chance to get out there.

I got my dish all setup and was receiving the GOD channel??? before too much swearing - maybe that's why that channel came through first :-)

But yes am on and am receiving channels through many satellites, my signal quality seems to drop when I motor around to 28e so think a bit of tweeking is required.

Am very happy so far - Thanks a lot to everone eps satman and robbo :-)

Will be posting some pics once I have it all neatened up out there...

look forward to it, well done

P.S 28e is a strong satellite so possibly slightly off the arc. Make the adjustments on your reference satellite 1W.

Happy days
