Default Motorised Dish Setup - A few quickies

Hey all,

Well I only went and bought it - the kit all arrived 8:15am from southern satellites. - Thanks Ian!

Seems the one thing Ian doesn't provide is the guarantee of good weather for installation - shame that - Saturday we had rain all day - then gale force winds on Sunday

So I'm gonna try it tonight - quick question tho...

Do I fix the whole thing together (ie motor pole sat) then find 1west by moving the whole thing and looking on my satellite finder meter thing for signal?

Or do I get it pointing south(ish) and move the satellite by the motor to try and find 1w.

Or something else??

Thank you...

Quick Guide for HH mount install:

> Install L bracket / TK on South Wall
> Place motor on dish on the centre of the motor shaft and tighten
> set latt/El scale on motor
> Make sure LNb is straight
> Fit dish to brackets and aim at rough South with bolts loose on bracket
> With receiver, input Long/latt
> With receiver, under USALS setting, send motor to 1W (if your longitude is close to 1W)
> When it stops, align for best signal on 1W moving dish/motor Az and dish El
> Tighten up.
> check alignment by trying far satellites 42e and 30w
> start viewing

also a compass helps to find south but don't use it near anything metal or it will mess with the compass reading

Thanks all...

Still got questions - I have now fitted my t&k brakets...

What I would like to do is to fit the motor instead of on the pole above the brackets, fit it on the pole between the brackets. This is because the guttering will stop me from getting the dish right around to 1w I believe.

Just due to my house position...

Will this be ok??

Thanks...

Yes, you can fit it between the brackets.

Thanks!! thats great news...

Where I am right now is having fitted the brakets, then I got worried and wanted to talk to you lot! :-)

So presumably I'm going to have to fit the pole with the motor on the pole and get the bracket absolutly plumb?

Or can I put the motor to the dish and then once I have the pole plumb fit the motor and dish??

Thanks - oh and I like the fact I'm doing it the professional way :-)

Fit the TK brackets and make sure the pole is plumb.

Then take the dish & motor up as one piece and fit onto pole in between brackets. It's tricky, you need 10 pairs of hands
