When you launch the firmware on your PC:

Under the Channel Data section click the Upload button (this will create a Channel Definition File or CDF on your pc)

Now flash the firmware onto your box by clicking the large Download button above the Channel Data section

Once the flash has completed click on the smaller Download button under Channel Data and this will copy your channels back onto your box

on the software you use to flash the box with there is a upload button
connect your box with the null modem cable and press the upload button give the file a name and save it to a folder of your choice, then after you have flashed just download this file back to your box and all your channels will be there and you won't have to rescan

Edit: lucky13 beat me to it
