Hello,
I am trying to set up an ambit 200 modem. The modem has been flashed (sigma-x2 1.28) and I have had it working at 35meg in Blackburn. However, my friend lives in Huyton (knowsley) and I cannot get it to work for love nor money. I have tried it in three different houses, two already pay for internet one doesn't, and cannot get it to connect. I have used the ambit config tool to put in the new settings for the area but no joy. Could it be possible that these modems are banned from this area? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Peo |

The modem wouldnt be banned from that area,it could be they are using a different ds freq to where it was originally flashed, it could be the mac causing issues in that area, also 35mb on a 200 is a bit dubious but thats not the issue.
How far away from the original working point are the oither houses?? Are they a different provider, its possible one area could be a pure area and the other an excw?? Theres a few reasons it could be, but a bit more info is needed first,. Marc |

hi
the area i had them working in is blackburn, the area i can't get them to work in is huyton (about 50 miles apart). Blackburn is an ex c+w area, huyton is a tw area. I have changed the settings to suit the appropiate area and have changed the settings (including the tftp for the area, the area settings and the config file) using the ambit config tool. I have used a couple of macs, they are both working macs so i unplugged the paid for modem and used that mac in my flashed modem. hope that's the kind of info required |

There are a couple of potential annex settings for tw iirc, maybe try a search for the annex settings, i cant remember what they are of the top of my head as its been a long while since i touched a modem !!!!
Also if you have forced the config then dont !! just use a config suited to the speed of the mac address this is often a problem that arises, Marc |
