Hi,
I am a new member to the forum and was browsing here after searching the net, as i am looking into purchasing a cable box either Starview or Eurovox and would really appreciate any information as i am totally new to this. Firstly, I currently have an ntl connection with a virgin media box, i get a standard pakage i.e. (no sports/movies etc). Secondly, Would a Eurovox max v / starview 3 be compatable with the ntl connection. also, I have read through this forum and noticed some people talk about updating firmware via usb, could andbody clear this up abit? also, if the box is pre-flashed with new firmware, how often do I need to re-flash them using my pc?, and if so, were is the best provider for the software / codes. Thanks alot, I appreciate your help! |

Boxes are compatible. You can connect box to pc via usb/rs232/null modem cable to update it. If box comes pre-flashed there's no need to update. This is only needed from time to time when cable companies change their encryption methods. You can download a toolbar called ''chaterbox'' which has updates and codes. |

Thanks alot Fj1200 for your help.
I was also wondering which boxes are best at sending the 'right' info back to the providers or if i need to keep my existing virgin box on ? also, is there any differance in regards to 'flashing' between the starview and eurovox, and if not, what are the main differances between the two boxes? Thanks again. Tangomatic. |

You'll need to keep your vm box connected as that sends a signal back. I use eurovox so I'm not au fait with starview. I think you use similar methods to flash both but in my opinion the ev is the easiest to use.

what is meant exactly by the 'area', 'chorus'
C*orus is a network provider for Ireland. Area means just the network provider area you're in. By the way you should abbreviate/change the way you spell network companies for legal reasons eg. Nthell or Telepest etc. Last edited by fj1200; 26-06-08 at 09:15 PM. |
