Default Ds810xe

a friend of mine can get one for £100 on discount. can anyone tellme if they are worth buying say comparred with other makers HD models. To me the normal price of £130 is cheap for a HD reciever so i assume yu missing something say the Humax HD has. He wants the reciever for 19E 28E and 13E

It'll work fine on those 3 birds - mine does.

You can't do as much with this as you can with other boxes - it's not patchable, does not like (and Pace won't guarantee) any form of cards that are not certified DVB compliant.

Having said all that, I've had mine about 9 months, it gives a great picture, superb sounds and most importantly of all, keeps SWMBO happy with the stuff she wants to watch from 13E.

I'ts been a great introduction box for me, when I move I'll be having a motorised dish for myself and a box thats a bit more "flexible".

Got mine for 99 quid and it does have a few annoyances, such as no possibility to set a time for recording whilst you are away and you cannot edit the PID settings to view some Free To Air transmissions that it does not automatically find. For example the BBCi channels and ITV HD it thinks are data channels so they are not available to view. But the HD from Astra 1 and BBC HD from Astra 2 are great!
