Default Simple Question (T C-1501)

Howdie,

Been reading for the last few hours all about the need and requirements for getting VM onto your PC.

It seems that most (if not all) have had good success with the T C-1501 model which seems to be the cheapest around. One part where I am stuck though is do I require the "package" with the CI addon found at DVBShop?

The way I thought it worked was without the CI add-on you use Vplug to decode the channels, with the CI addon you use a card (identical copy of the card found in my VM box in my living room) to decode the channels, which I guess just saves CPU/Memory resources.

Please feel free to correct me.

Thanks for all the information so far.. its pointed me in correct direction in what to do..

if u choose the ci route (hardcam) u will allso need a cam, the advantage of hardcam is quicker channel change, seems to handle the keyrolls better and you can use a mosc card which if written correctly would be hard for a v*m emm to identify and disable.

the card is a budget so memory/cpu resource is not saved as it is the decoder not de-encryption that uses the bulk of the resource.

if u r not planning to build a htpc then the softcam option is probably the best but not sure about the auto-update, i use hardcams in media centre and pc and up till now handle the keyrolls

hope this helps

ps i use a floppydtv card which uses less resource decoding on-board - but todays processors easily manage.
