On doing some research into freesat, It appears would need a satellite dish.
I currently have a sky satellite dish installed for my freesky digibox, would it just be a case of swapping the digibox over and freesat would work or would a re-alignment be required to the freesat satellite? Apparently there are 80 channels to choose from but, no channel 5 as yet. HD channels for free (assuming you have an HDTV). What's the general consensus on freesat: thoughts please

Yep just swap boxes and all will work just fine
Although like you say apart from the availability of the HD channels (and the present lack of ch5) i don't think there is much difference between the two services. Although at least on the freesat box you wont have tons of unavailable channels to trawl through on the EPG unlike the sky one

Thanks Redoxide
![]() Reading the freesat home page and details, I would think they could be onto a winner here, as the production market increases to more brands: Panasonic, Sony, Samsung etc..there will no doubt be a drop in the unit prices of DTR's over time and also the benefit of even more free to air channels. I'm just curious as to when a DTR will include a DVD player/recorder, as most of the current brand producers only offer a DTR or just the vanilla set-top box. I'm going to hang off buying for a while (until the Sky digibox packs in) to see where they are going to expand to with regards to added functionality and price. Anyone on here got freesat? What's it like having HD channels? I have a samsung HDTV but the only HD pics I get are from my Xbox360 using an HDMI cable (I think )

I've heard that PVRs will be available around September time.
At the moment you get moe channels on an ex Sky box than you do with Freesat. Robbo
