Whoever told you to use a null modem, kick them where it hurts, that's the old fashioned way to transfer files!!!
![]() Simple to do, 2 ways to do it: Get or borrow an external monitor, plug it into your monitorless laptop, and there you have visual access, as for connecting them together, you need a crossover network cable, and, if either laptop hasn't not a network socket, a PCMCIA network card. Then you just need to set IP addresses on each laptop in order to get them to connect, but this varies on each windows version (blummin' annoying for us techies!!!) so you need to find out which version you're using on each laptop before I can tell you how this is done (but the settings are same on most versions, they're just in a different place!!!)... ![]() OR, buy a USB 2.5" hard drive caddy off ebay, take the drive out of the broken laptop (doing this varies from model to model, some are easy to access, some are pain in the backside), plug it into the working laptop and there you have access to your files... ![]() Then, sell the broken lappy on ebay as "Spares repairs laptop", and get some money back, but keep the hard drive for security & personal data reasons...
