Hi all,
ok, although not a complete divvy, i seem to have more problems than most with this blessed dvb-c setup. Got progdvb and dvbdream working ok (finally). Had shed loads of trouble with mediaportal (couldn't even find the card) and sagetv (found card but get 'no signal' when scanning for channels(?)), and have had to uninstall, although they are my weapons of choice as their gui and diversity is far greated than the first two. However, now, on dvbdream and progdvb, when i start them i get 'hardware failure errors', something like 'tuner space not found' The progs see my card, and don't report any problems immediately. I uninstalled it from device manager the other day and rebooted vista where it picked up the drivers and started working again. But it happened again yesterday and uninstalling doesn't work. So currently my htpc tv viewing is dead in the water. The only thing i haven't really tried is uninstalling from device manager and removing all existing drivers and reloading from original cd. Other than that if its a permanent hardware error, i'm probably buggered. Its about 4 months old. Now maybe i can rma it back to dvbshop, but how long will i wait for a repair/replacement to come back to me IF it IS faulty?! Questions: 1. Any idea what else i could try before deciding its knackered? 2. What other dvb-c card would you recommend? maybe a non-budget one? 3. with mediaportal, even though i don't think i had it setup correctly, ie right transponder file, it should still have detected my card right? Thanks

I had a similar problem where i had managed to select 2 cards in progdvb .. mine and another one.. it was whinging about the one that wasn't actually in my machine and screwing the whole thing up.
I have teh c-1501 and it works perfectly. I was looking into media portal but gave up on it in the end and spent the 15 euros on dvbpreview.. the skins on that in full screen mode are very nice. |

google doesn't even find dvbpreview dude. Did you mean DVBViewer, which seems to be a pain in the ar$s to download as its all in modular bits (i think)
Anyway, sorted it. Seems that uninstalling SAgeTV borked up something for the other progs that i use. Did a system restore back to before when i uninstalled SageTv and hey presto, got dvbdream and progdvb working fine again. |
