Default Dead Eurovox! Fixed and Dead AGAIN!!! Weird goings-on!

Hello everyone!

This is a follow up to the post I submitted yesterday. Please see the link below:

Eurovox Max V 2008 - Dead Box! JTag? PLEASE HELP!!!!

I then did a search and came across something that anther member had written in a similar post. Please see below:

your box is not bricked..... inside the box is a reset button.... start the firmware download and keep this button pressed while you switch it on at the mains. works everytime with the symptoms ur having..

step 1 - open cover
2 - start update proccess
3 - depress reset button inside the eurovox
4 - apply power while buttin is pressed
5 - release button

the firmware update will start.

works on eurovox red, blue and max v..

ive noticed whenever this problem arises ppl are always quick to mention jtag`ing, i hope everyone who reads this is aware that jtag`ing is the most dangerous thing u can do to the box if not done correctly..

only jtag as a last resort....

Jay

Anyhow, I did this last nite and after a few attempts it worked and I was able to flash the 28.04.08 firmware onto his box. I used this firmware (28.04.08) because this is the one I eventually flashed mine with as I had the 8% signal problem.

Right heres the real weird part! He called to my house and I had it all set up to my tv to show him how it all worked, remote functions and menu etc. All was great and he was well chuffed.

We pulled the plug, packed it up and he took it home, plugged it into a socket in his house and presto! Its dead again! lol! Cant understand it? He tried it in different sockets around the house and the same thing!!!

Should I have flashed the box with the 18.04.08 firmware or something? It was working fine though with the 28.04.08 (signal fix) firmware.

I checked the whole circuit board and there is definitely power running to every component. I suppose I didnt need to say this because I got it working but just to let you know anyway.

Please reply as I am totally confused now. Any help but be gratefully appreciated! Thank you

By the way the box is the latest eurovox max v 2008

The signal strength at his house can be different to yours, so I would try to get it up and running again (at his house) and flash with the 18/04/08 firmware and take it from there

Is it stuck in standby?

Any chance you could post some pics of the power board here?

And you've tried different power cables?

Hi Lucky

Sorry in work and cant get a camera to take photos. Dont have the box with me either but it is definitely not a clone! I have checked throughout the machine, inside and out.

I have also tried my cable and it works fine but the one he was supplied with works ok also. Thats the cable I used when updating the firmware to power the machine on.

Could it be a firmware problem? Have you any ideas at all?

Is the box in standby even? ie with --:-- displayed.

How about trying to copy your EV onto his (I presume yours is a MaxV also) - the instructions are here Eurovox tutorials

to be honest m8 the reason the box goes fecked again is most probly a coruped bootloader or tsop i would just jtag the box with the 2008 tsop nad that will more than likley fix the problem

also when ever i flash a box or jtag ect ect i always pull poer out when finnished and leave it for 5-10 mins then bk on power to make sure its working 100% most boxes that are gona feck bk up do so in first power down eh
