Exclamation sattelite tv in spain

here goes, i visit spain regularly, a town called Qusada beside torriviaja and i need to know what will work for me, i have been doing some digging and came up with a dreambox,,1.4 metre dish and a 2.2 lnb, can someone help me in confirming that this is all i need to recieve itv, bbc, movies and sports ect, or if im barking up the wrong tree all togeather, but the dish does seem quite large to me, as all the ones ive seen in the area are quite small, also is there a specific model of dreambox i need,

Hi,

Not really necessary to have a Dreambox for FTA channels for 28E, any old FTA Digital sat receiver will do. If you wanted a Sky subscription, then a Sky Digibox or Dreambox (with the appropriate emus loaded) would do the job.

The FTA channels on 28E are listed here with a red F in collumn 5. http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html

Dish wise, it would need to be fairly big to pick up from Astra 2d for the BBC and ITV etc channels.

What do you mean by a 2.2 LNB?

See this post by Analoguesat for a dish size guide for Spain and Portugal for Astra 2D

Before buying sat equipment...

Robbo

The really small dishes you see around are for a local "pirate" service that re-broadcasts signals from a big sky dish and use a short range encrypted microwave system. You pay a lot for this service and if you look on your local Torrevieja forum you can judge for yourself how reliable it is. Best option is to get a dish of about 1.8m and use your freesat card. If you still have a UK address you can get a lot of channels with the basic sky package using a 1.8m dish. There is also a lot of English language programs available on the local version of freeview just by pressing the audio button.
I myself only have a a 1.2m dish and make do with all the Channel Fives and the likes of Living etc, but can't pick up BBC or ITV. I can also pick up all the BBC radio channels using a standard Digibox.

Hope this helps you
