Default Hi There! Help needed on Telstar 12

Hello feller's.

I hope I shan't bore you...

I am in South Africa and have a no name generic sat receiver on a dish picking up Telstar 12.
Until very recently I was picking up Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Poland, Nat Geo Romania and others. After 'blind search' I would simply- menu-type 8 four times- exit and voila!
Now no channels...
I fetch the signal from the dish on my PC.
Would anyone even begin to know why this is so?
And more importantly, is there a solution?
Best regards,
Paul

Hi,

Check you transponder list and ensure that you have the correct ones needed for those channels. Transponder details can be found on www.lyngsat.com.

Once you have the corect transponders, you may need to re-scan to get the channels.

According to Lyngsat, Nat Geo Wild isnt carried on the South African beam any longer so you can forget that one.

The others still appear to be there - so are you picking up ANYTHING on Telstar 12??

Hey Robbo71, thank you so much for your quick reply!! Such service is remarkable in this neck of the woods
I have found out that my sat decoder is a 'grey'(non branded) delsat dsr 5500 gold and that after a full rescan (blind search) all of those channels that were recently available say they are scrambled and incl.
nat geo poland
reality tv
extreme sport
club europe
extreme france
nat geo romania
club ce
PLAYBOY TV N
club/irisz
reality asia
reality emea
Are all gone and dead and redundant as though 'multichoice' has somehow kiled them!
Channels still available include...
tzuchi!
mactv!!
bbcpersian!!!hwazan!!!
adthcombo!!!!!
aghapy!!!!!
My better half has threatened divorce
What shall I do?

Cool Re: Hi There! Help needed on Telstar 12

Hello Anlogue.
Thank you for your very prompt response!
Yus, I am finding all the aforementioned channels but they are now scrambled!~!!
Unscrambled are some Chinese, Taiwanese and of course the Church of the latter day Saints!
Into my 'grey' delsat 5500 dsl gold receiver I used go menu... 8888-exit and it used to unblock many (nagra? cryptoworks?)channels on telstar 12 but now!! it unblocks only sound, .. on some of those channels.

I have 2 dishes. One picking up the now recalcitrant Telstar 12 and the other pas7/10 ku, & after 8888... only SABC1,2,3 AND E TV that believe me, you do not want to find them, as advertising and affirmative crp fill up their days!
I and my dearest are bitterly sad that even the little Telstar12 paltry 'reality tv' offerings are apparantly dead by the decree of some 'high hand' and we should be most grateful for any inputs you may have...
Sincerely Paul and Gi
South Africa

Is your receiver connected to a broadband router by any chance?? If so its a card share receiver - and quite a few models had their card server knocked out a few days back.

If not the encryption has probably been tweaked. You can still get the fta stuff so theres no problem with the dish.

Tell your other half to learn Chinese

Well, thats the thing with obtaining TV by unofficial means, they come and they go. To be honest I don't keep up to date with what is available and what isn't. I thought the DMC Cryptoworks channels went long ago. I can't check if they are available on my receiver as I have put the official firmware on it. perhaps you need to get a new patch.

Other than that, to keep the missus happy, could you not subscribe to it?

Well, I have been on the odd occasion known to be wrong... But was I wonderfully naive in supposing that I could get anything at all for absolutely nothing?
My whole being resounds with outrage that although I subscribe on pas7/10ku with DSTV using their decoder while my grand hobby, my second (more expensive bigger) dish.. Telstar 12 on the Delsat, which used to perform so adequately.. is now only good for the Saints, the Chinese and the tantalising sounds from playboy and exstreme other sports!
I do need to enable/tweak my Delsat please and thank you!~
I have fruitlessly spent the night and day changing my keys according to Smiyako but without a point of reference, I may be at it for a very long time indeeed!
C'mon guys whaddya say?
Or do I need another kind of decoder and if so which one?
