Eurovox won't update - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

Hi guys,

I tried to update my Eurovox Max V Red, have the latest firmware, Null Modem Cable and a Laptop with serial port but I can't get my Eurovox to update. When I click the download button it pops up with a window which switches between COM1...COM3 and when I click on the start button it will tell me that it can't detect the receiver and I can manually select to try the boot mode, I have selected COM1 for the serial as it shows up in the device manager but it just looks for the receiver and can't find it.

Tried to restart laptop before using the cable, switched box on and off but no success.

Any ideas how to fix that?

Which box do you have - a MaxV or a red Max? and which firmware you trying to flash with?

com 3 is usually best when it says 'boot mode' switch eurovox off and on quickly at mains should then start downloading

Sorry, I got a Red Eurovox (not the Max) and trying to flash it with the Eurovox_RED_UFL_21_04_2008_FINAL from the biqmac toolbar. I'll try again with the Com3 later.

So I tried to switch to COM3 but it says in the device manager that it is already in use so couldn't do that. Tried to switch box on and of when it said Waiting for the response of your receiver but nothing happens...It still says receiver could not be detected. Any more ideas???

No my Pc doesn't have a serial port, tried it on 2 different laptops with serial port but not working on either of them

i had the same probs with my lappy i ended up gettin one of these it worked first time.

Are you using a rs232 null modem cable?
