Angry TM5200D Crashed. Help!

Hi all,

My TM5200D has just crashed. I rang up Technomate and they said the software had crashed and needed to be reloaded via a null modem. He said I could buy one from Maplins but I'm not sure which one to get as there appears to be 2 types. Anyone advise? I've downloaded the software required, just need the null modem now. Thanks

Do you have a serial port on your computer?

Maplin do two types; a 25pin to 9pin, and a 9pin to 9pin.

How many pins on your serial port?

9 or 25 (most likely 9), whichever it is, that's the one you need.

You can also buy them online or from fleebay for a couple of quid. Maplin is too expensive.

Or get one from Lincsat

Thanks guys, the serial port on the main pc is 25pin, so that answers my question, thanks guys. The trouble is I'm missing my satellite already
can I wait a few days for it to be delivered?...or do I visit Maplins?

For quickness, they are £10 from Maplins, I took advantage of getting one from there

When I first got my receiver, I tried getting one from PC-World, what a joke, they didn't even know what one was.

Just in case you may need this guide. Its for the older 1000 series model that the 5000 series replaced but it should still work in the same way

How to recover your TM1000 after a failed update

Mmmm, this isn't going well....I got null modem from Maplins only to realise that the connection on my pc was also female! So I had to go back and get a gender changer! I've connected it all up, followed the instructions and all I get when I power up the receiver and hit connect on the loader is " Connect your receiver and turn it on" the same message when I press the auto detect for the com port. I'm thinking the guy at technomate might be wrong about it just being a software crash. Anyway guys, thanks for all the help. Much appreciated

does the receiver switch on and do anything ?

its a while since i used a technomate receiver but with the receiver in standby mode you should be able to transfer the software using the darkman loader

one thing to check first is the com port enabled in the computer bios ?
