Pace DITV-1000 Phase1B Issues - Any help?

I've always had a Eurovox, but my Uncle has had this Pace Box for a few years and has recently had some issues!

I have it at my house currently, and after a few restarts the channels loaded, and for now it seems to work (is it normal for modded Pace Boxes to say the smart card isn't inserted properly..but still the channels work!?)...ok since typing this its stopped working!

At my Uncles House (Ex Telepest) around 5mins walk away also, the picture will show, but around 5-10 minutes later the NTL (the Pace box is NTL) message "your set top box is being updated" etc is displayed, and the numbers and "EAAS" is displayed on the box....and around an hour later the picture will return for a few minutes.

Is this a common issue, and am I able to solve it? Any help will be great, my Uncle just came back from an operation, so I'd really like to get him sorted.

possibly the battery as the stb is reloading the software but this wouldnt explain your other issues

the other issue is down to the card image

Well there is a NTL Smart Card in there where the "salesman" has written on the card in permanent ink a bunk of numbers and jibberish.

What can I do to fix the issue of the channels stop working? Any help appreciated; I've never touched a PACE box till now!

M8 u need to open the card image in Nagraedit 4.1 (I am assuming as there are numbers written on the card then its a mosc.) Hopefully its not a blockered image. Anyway when you open it first save it somewhere. Then you need to check the expiry dates and rights dates in the tiers in case they have expired as this is modt common for mosc to stop working. If they have expired then you need to redo them for sometime in future and rewrite the image back to card. This assumes you have a pheonix progger

cheers for the help..hmmm gonna have to find a step-by-step manual. Or are there any people around South London who can help?
