Default fortec star 180cm dish how good is it

just been looking at _http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=47165&doy=6m7

I need something else to play with and all to my sat collection

as the title says how good is this dish would if pull in 7west for eg

Ive seen mixed reports on other forums and not sure on how easy it is to construct the dish petals so its a in a perfect shape

slightly off topic apart from 7 west what other sats are considered difficult hits in the uk

This dish has had mixed results, if its put together correctly, then it will

performe well. Even if its 1mm out it will effect the performance

What part of the uk are you? I was getting showtime channels on 7w here in S.Wales on my Channelmaster 1.8m

No I have not put one together, but a installer on here rd-100 has using an expensive laser system for lining up the petals. He was impressed by it.

But like I said its got to be put together correctly!

The lnb and feed horn is a fair price. but any C120 lnb will work. If you wanted to get a cheaper lnb try the inverto whitetech .3 C120 for around £15.

If I remember correctly, RD100's dish collapsed in high winds due to it being made of thin metal like that of a cheap baking tray, personally, I'd say avoid it unless you're a dab hand at taking it apart when a light breeze is forecast...

Yes it did get trashed in high winds, but you get what you pay for, what do you expect for £99

Very good value for such a big dish, if used in a sheltered location.

Iv'e read about people using a fishing line to get the dish assembled right. How does that work crossbones?
