Yes the other silver box is actually the tuner, the one that unplugs is the CIM (cable interface module), i think unless your good with electronics its get another box time.

theres is 2 silver box its got small lids in each side which 1 do i need to open and see i only can open the side lids and see the 1 next to card slot or one next to cable feed ?

Ones the downstream tuner and ones upstream i think, i doubt you will see anything taking the lids off, probably the downstream one is at fault and needs replacing, its not an easy job.
