jtag 4010 question

might sound like a silly question but when you jtag a 4010 can you do it after resetting the box or does it have to be updated or on stream or doesnt it matter been reading all threads,doesnt really mention 4010 boxes for the update and will bytes be same as already in bke2.2

you can do it by letting the stb take the update then jtag or go do itt on stream
