Default Orbital or Triax?

Hi first post so i hope im in the right forums
I am looking to get back into satellite after 8-10 years of Sly.
I used to have a td88, pace 300 or 500?(cant remember now) pace positioner and a d2mac decoder set up by myself.
I am looking for advice for what dish to go for, is there any difference in quality between triax and orbital, is one prefered over the other.
Any other makes to consider?
Looking between 80 and 100cm. It will be motorised and ground mounted.
Also looking at the TM5400 ci+ to drive it all in s wales.
Busy trying to make a ground mount at the moment.
Thanks.

Welcome,

Go for a Triax Td88 dish option as they are stronger dishes than Orbit*l.

The receiver your looking at is also a very good choice. You will require something like a Moteck H H motor to drive the above dish. A very popular choice.

Regards

I would disagree, I find that orbital are very good and strong too and work very well with a 0.1db lnb

Each to their own is fair to say

As an installers point of view, I'd much rather work with a Triax dish than a Orbital but..... Orbital dishes still perform ok I suppose but not as good as a Triax. I'm sure many installers in the industry that work with dishes day in day out would agree, fact.

Respect Southern satellite

i don't like either of those dishes and prefer gibertini dishes, much better quality. but i've left cheap dishes and rubbish diseqc motors behind now for some proper kit instead.

triax dish i have and the elevation bracket is annoying but its left on 1west so it doesn't matter too much.

but as your ground mounting it then it shouldn't matter too much and what would be a good setup is a 1metre gibertini dish on a darkmotor diseqc h2h motor for lightness and less stress on the motor with it having metal gears inside

You could also try a FR Penta 85 (like my Avatar shows)
I've yet to install one but been told they perform as good or better than standard 1m dish.

In fact as of next week, I will have actually installed one to compare the results

yes, can of worms indeed!

ive had both, the triax 1.2, found the elavation bracket pants, also couldnt get 26e from it for love nor money.

now have the orbit 1m, and am very happy with it, have 26e and 7w on a moteck motor, ive installed a few dishes in my time, and would go for the orbit every time

do orbital dishes still fit the cryptik v motor where it bolts straight on to the motor, that would save time get it level on the motor shaft and not move about in windy weather
