Default Dbox2 Image Flashing Assistant

Hi All,
After reading a lot of info I managed to use Flash FXP to overwite the roms and get box back up and running.
I have also been reading a lot about all the new images available and would like to give it a try but dont want to mess up box.
Can you use DBox flashing Assistant to load new image to box and if so what image would you recomend.
Also once a new image is loaded and you copy over you service and boquet files is that it or do you have to change any settings etc
Many thanks
Taz

Hi,

I've played with several images for the first time tonight. I simply FTP'd the .img to /tmp on the dbox, and followed this:

Quote:
Now that the new Image is uploaded its time to flash the box
1. Press "Dbox" on the remote
2. Select "Service Menu" (3rd from bottom) and hit "OK"
3. Select "Image Update" (very last option)
4. Select "Flash Read/Write" (2nd Option)
5. Select "Write One Partition" (2nd From Bottom)
6. Select "Flash without bootloader"
7. Select the Image to flash. If you can't see the image make sure its the correct image and that it
has been extracted ie make sure its a .img file and not .rar
8. Select yes if prompted to continue and your finished. The box will reboot and your nearly there

After that you just have to copy over your service files if you wish (I didn't as I wanted to start over).

Obviously network settings will go to default after a flash so this will need setting up again. I've set a perm IP for my dbox in my router so switching dhcp on in the dbox's options fixes any issues and I'm able to FTP over again.

I had no issues whatsoever in flashing, seems pretty foolproof as long as you flash the right rom for the right chip.

The tut penguin gave you looks good to me. If you don't know how to FTP then I suggest a quick google might sort you out. You'll always be the village idiot if you're lazy and want spoon feeding.

Try post 7 in this thread ( it's on the very first page of the dbox forum FFS )

what model of dbox do i have ?
