German TV service provider Peyk Media has received the green light from anti-media concentration commission KEK for the television channel Ebru TV EU.
The free-to-air channel, targeting viewers throughout Europe, will be distributed in German and English via Astra (19.2° East). Ebru TV EU will offer a general interest service focusing on culture, information and entertainment, financed through advertising, sponsoring and teleshopping. Ebru TV EU, which is planning a September launch, is also hoping for subsidies from the European Union as its programmes will concentrate on European themes. Ebru TV already exists in America and the European channel plans to exchange content with its US partner. Peyk Media produces TV shows for Turkish broadcaster Samanyolu TV Avrupa, which targets the Turkish speaking community in Europe. Samanyolu TV Avrupa is the European version of the Turkish commercial broadcaster Samanyolu TV and has been operating since 2001 with a Turkish licence. According to KEK, Peyk Media has also applied for a German broadcasting licence for that channel. Source:Rapid Tv News |
