Confused?? For other struggling newbies.

Hi i recently joined up to this community as had just purchased a EV (eurovox.) I have been looking trough threads for the last 2 days or so and have improve my knowledge abit and i would like to share this for others who struggle because i know how overwhelming it can be when you have a zero knowledge-base to start with, but also to ask about what i dont know yet.

EV=Eurovox
FTA=Free to air (channels)
Firmware=I think this means the 'software' runnig on the box
Flash=Copying on new firmware onto your EV

I believe this is what you have to do once you get you EV

1.Download either dnupman or dabbaman these will allow you to flash your EV with new firmware from your computer. (ther are tutorials on this so i wont go through how you do this besides i havent done it myself yet)

2.Get the correct and most up to date Fireware for your EV.there are several different EV with different firmware.

3.Follow tutorial from here to flash ur EV with the programs above,and you should be good to go.

the difficulties i am having is locating these items mentioned above. I have read about mystical threads that are hidden or something (gmail drive and download section) but i cant seem to work out how or what you need to do to access them.


If you could help me out that would be appreciated and if i have made any mistakes please do mention where i am going wrong.

Nothing mystical its called downloads links in here http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/private-fta.html and all you do is follow the guide here Ronsters Guide To Flashing Box For Newbies , thats it.

Thanks for that, i suppose it wasnt really that dificult i was looking in the wrong places. sorry.

The other questions i had is once you have flashed your EV why would you flash it again and also whats all this stuff about keys and codes updating etc.

You would only use dnupman/dabbaman to flash the Eurovox 1, Eurovox 2 and Eurovox Max clones.

The genuine Eurovox Max and MaxV boxes all use UFL (Unified Flash Loader) - the firmware and the loader are one and the same

if you flash with the right updated software, (you have not said which box you have) you will not need to enter keys as this as automatic update already installed.

used dnupman UFL MAX BLUE 21.04.08 on wed night for first time since getting my box over 2 years ago.I clicked the DOWNLOAD box above the channel data line and it started to download and my box flashed to show this.It then said writing and then downloading successfully. After this I connected it back to tv and did a power scan to get my channels back.After about half an hour the box came back on with an EPG GUIDE which I had never had before and was delighted with.My problem is that yesterday when the codes changed again my box DID NOT automatically update itself. Did I do something wrong in the use of Dnupman , as after all I have seen it mentioned that you must use browse button, or the upload or download buttons below the channel data row.I appreciate ronster`s gide for newbies, am i just overcomplicating things or was there something really stupid(very likely) that I either did or did`nt do. Just to re-itterate the only button i pressed on the dnupman blue box during upgrade of firmware was the download button in the centre of the box above the channel data row. Any info would be appreciated. My box is working well but probably,like many, I am getting fed up with the constant manually changing of the codes.Bit frustrating that I am almost certainly doing something extremely daft which is stopping me getting the benefits of eurovox max.Cheers

just wondering whether you used the right software.Have you defintley got a blue box?

got box in apr 06 and was told it was eurovox max blue.does it sound as though i have done update correctly by what i described on the dnupman update or is there something i have neglected to do?

youve done everything right m8 its just a case of selecting the correct chanel for the codes to update

slysports 1 or mutv always works for me

Sorry guys got another couple of quick questions.

1. I am only getting my cable installed next week and would like to ry out my box at a mates house. He has virgin with a full package, if i try out my box on his feed with the fta firmware will i pick up all the channels as they are unlocked to him or will only he be able to pick up the feed through his own box.

2.The loop-through on the box, does this then mean if i feed off this to the box my provider gives me i will pick up all the channels that the EV has 'unlocked' or does it just pass back through the encrypted feed?
