Default which laptop to go for?

hi i'm a total newbie with computers/ laptops was wanting to buy a new laptop and wondered which one to go for? i'm looking for something with good spec for about £800 max .something with fast processing speeed pref .also could anyone help whats the best anti virus to go for?many many thenks in advance col

you cant go wrong with a dell go on line dell.com, i find norton antivirus 2008 an excellent choice, goto symnatec.com you can download it for about $40, you can use it on upto 3 computers. also the acer laptop offers a good spec for a low price.

they do seem to run very hot but ive never heard of one going on fire

There was the battery problem they had, where they'd overheat and burst into flames, a lot of people were injured/burned apparently...

oh the dell battery they were all recalled a good few years back, i dont think there would be a problem with the latest ones

I doubt dell will top this spec for the money
