Default Help required on flashing EV1

Hey guys ! Looking for some help on flashing the original eurovox 1, the old silver one with just the one scart socket. With some guidence from the very helpful lucky 13, I did manage to download relevent files (even though it cost me £6 by way of txt messages to get winRAR for 40 days).
I followed tuts for ev1 & 2 and all was going very well but towards the end of writing, the download failed and the display on the ev1 said 'PEAA'
I tried disconnecting the box and reflashing several times to no avail.
Does anybody out there no how to combat this probem ?
Answers on a postcard please
Any help would be gratefully accepted blueprince612

You could have got a free trial of winRAR for nothing if you had done a google search for it,too late now for that ...suggest you send Lucky a PM Im pretty sure he will help you with this problem ....its quite common to see download failed initially on downloading but it usually sorts itself ....

PEAA is a protection error, I have had no experience with this error but other posts seem to suggest you have either flashed with the wrong firmware or it could be a clone box

Ouch !
Hope its wrong firmware as i get the feeling after looking at other posts that if it is a clone i have probably 'bricked' it rendering the box useless !
I know how to check for clone blue, red and black boxes but havent seen anything re. the first silver ones. Do you have any info on this ?
Many thanks smoggy

Sorry I don't know how to tell if it is a clone but if it is there is clonesafe firmware
I would wait until someone with more experience on this issue comes along

gadgetfiend provided this on another thread . . .

It can be caused by flashing the wrong or unzipped firmware to the unit - I presume your EV1 has only one scart socket at the back of it. Its easily resolved by flashing the proper firmware but follow below steps

1. unplug box
2. open up the dnupman program
3. choose the correct image for your particular unit. (ev1, ev2 etc )
4. Click download and select the correct COM port, then click download
5. Wait until you get the message (waiting response from receiver), re'apply power to the box and after a moment it should start downloading.

Have replied to your pm on the other matter
