Default The 5 MHz frequency offset - why?

Hi all,

I'm finding that, in order to receive signals from manually-added transponders, I have to add 5 MHz to the frequency quoted on Lyngsat.

For example, Lyngsat says that Astra 1H's transponder #82 transmits at 12.051 GHz, yet my receiver only gets a signal when the frequency is set five megahertz higher, namely 12.056 GHz.

The offset applies to other transponders I've been adding too (and since I'm primarily interested in German-language FTAs, they're also on Astra 1H).

Is normal? Is it my cheap receiver not being properly calibrated (although that sounds unlikely for a digital device)? Or is it a symptom of some more serious imbalance elsewhere in the system?

Thanks for any clues,
JST

I don't think its anything to worry about.
If you check all the satellite frequency websites, you'll find that they have all slight variations of the frequencies parameters.
For example on Lyngsat,on Astra 1,Transponder 85 is listed as 12110H,whereas King of Sat lists it as 12109H.

As long as it's constant.
Is probably due to component tolerence in the LNB or in the tuner. As long as isn't greater than about 1/2 the spacing between channels it should cause no inconvenience.
