Question DBox 2 Beginners guide needed...

Hello world of Techwatch.

I have owned what i believe to be a Dbox2 for about 2 years now.

Since we lost sky 1 everything has lost its order. I also want to learn how to reflash it to get me up to date with everything. also its really getting up my nose having to fix the keys so often with the remote.

Ive got the sagem dbox connected to my mac through my wireless router, and i can access the web interface.

I can find the relevant fixes on my TCB.CC toolbar (biqmaq??) but which one do i use? Whats 1x and 2x chipset mean? How to FTP, shall i use my mac i can just as easily use a windows vista laptop? Just dont really have a clue where to start!!

Step by step guide for dummies is whats needed. mega thanks to all that help.

Like lincsat said there's a few guides in the private fta section.

Some info in no particular order:

- 1x and 2x is referring to the number of processors your box has. If it's a Nokia it'll have 2, therefore you get a 2x image. If it's a Sagem it could be either and I think you need to open the box up to find out.

- To reflash just FTP the new .img into /tmp on the root of the dbox. Then follow these instructions (taken from the Beginners Guide to Everything):

Quote:
1. Press "Dbox" on the remote
2. Select "Service Menu" (3rd from bottom) and hit "OK"
3. Select "Image Update" (very last option)
4. Select "Flash Read/Write" (2nd Option)
5. Select "Write One Partition" (2nd From Bottom)
6. Select "Flash without bootloader"
7. Select the Image to flash. If you can't see the image make sure its the correct image and that it
has been extracted ie make sure its a .img file and not .rar

- If you just want to make your current image autoupdating you can find the fixes in the toolbar, then FTP them to /var/keys

- To rearrange your channels and create seperate subdirectories for them you can use the editor on the box, or I find it quicker to use the dbox2 web interface (just go to http://192.168.x.x in a browser after your dbox is networked)
