Off out to get the HDD tomorrow and to kind of combine the info in this and the main PVR thread I believe it needs to fulfil this spec to make sure its OK

1) a 2.5" laptop HDD
2) an IDE interface (aka a P-ATA and not the newer SATA interface)
3) No bigger size than 120GB
4) unformatted (so not ripped out of an old laptop)

I assume that although the West Dig and Seagate versions are reported as OK as long as the HDD fits the above description there should be no problems with alternate manufacturers? I assume that the 80gb model may run a little cooler/better but there should be no problem if I stick to a max 120gb model?

Apart from Lincsats shop I was having a look at PCworld (who I never use to be honest) and they have HDDs to fit that spec at about £45-£50.

It also has to NOT have the pin protectors or it physically won't fit. So avoid the Fujitsu and latest Hitachi drives.

A used Laptop drive will be OK so long as it's no bigger than 120gig - The PVR re-formats the drive on first use.
