Default Chipped SMT 2110c or Eurovox ? Urgent assistance Required !

Hi

I recently had cable installed, been browsing forums etc .....

I have now figured out i have 3 options

1) Invest in equipment to unlock my box ?
2) pay the vigin media engineer £150 for a pre chipped box ?
3) Buy the latest Eurovox ?

Can anyone please run through the pro's and con's of each and what there recomendations whould be ? As i am now lost as part of me says **** it buy the kit and use everyones knowledge on here but the other part of me says if i fork out £50 odd and dont manage to do it then I should of gone with option 1 or 3 ??????

Thanks Dave

1.Dont touch the box that you pay subription for or your just asking to be caught, should buy a box of someone else and mod that.

2.£150 for the modded box but no doubt he'd be chargin you £10-£20 every time the card needs reprogramming

3.this is probably your best option and with the release of the latest pvr eurovox you can still pick up a max v at a decent price if your not interested in the pvr side of things

I would suggest getting the equipment, and then doing it yourself.

Paying the engineer is not a good thing, as mentioned above he will set a date i.e next month and then charge you, whereas if you learn how to program a mosc, fun, tit then ur fine

Sorry again n00b question what does the acronim PVR stand for ? and what are the main differences etc between the Max V & PVR ?

The eurovox sounds a bit awkward ie flashing firmware with null modem cable i suppose once done once it comes easily, are these simply plug and play when you purchase ie using same connections etc that the original Samsung uses and do they auto update and pick channels up straight out of the box ....

Sorry for the mass of questions I really want to get facts straight before I make the decision.

Cheers Dave

PVR means personal video recorder, you can record to a harddrive but as your a bit nervous of flashing them then i think the pvr would be a little too technicle for you as theyre not quite plug and play as they were advertised!

Have a look at Kryptviews also its a great box and once flashed and scanned all the channels are in the same order as v1rgin and automaticaaly sorts favourites, also scans in standby mode so technically you never need to scan again (i havnt).

Reason im not recommending modding a box yourself is once youve bought a box and all the required stuff it would probably be cheaper to just buy a plug + play like the krytview, complete with 12 month warrenty

sammy 2100 £30-£40
jtag £10-£25
card programmer £15-£50 (£15 ones are ****e lol)
funcard tit2 ect £5-£10

and alot of searcin readin and asking Qs lol
