Default Which box to buy?

Hi all,

I realize this is being posted in DBOX2 so I might get one sided responses but here goes.

I used to have a dbox2 some time ago and the lnb broke on it and I have never bought another box.

Now there are a few different options. I did think the Dbox2 was good however prices have went up significantly and some of the other boxes out there seem cheaper.

Is there anywhere that lists the differences between them all? Is there one that is much superior to the others?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If you mean LNB as in the thing on the end of the satellite dish, then that was easy to replace, and if so, you had a Satellite Dbox2, if so, you might be better off looking as the Dreambox range, they are also Linux powered and very good at it too...

As for Cable Dbox2s, go for the Nokia, as far as I know it's the most reliable, they all have 2 flash chips so no need to find out which image you need to use, the only thing that lets it down, as with all Dbox2s, is the LCD display on the front...

if u want to be future proof then i would go for a box with hd support, dboxes are old, i've had one for over 4 years, never let me down but it ain't the way things are going....some dreams got hard drives and support hd but i'd say the best is dvb-c card and build a htpc,a multimedia pc (vista mce)...everything u want at the touch of a button...photos. dvds, cable with hd, suppport all types of movies, divx xvid mpeg, internet access, full 2 week epg, 1-touch recording, series recording, time lapse, gaming etc etc etc connect to the biggest 1080p lcd tv u can afford and away u go......

The Dreambox is theoretically better, I find the d-box easier to work with - probably because it's what I'm used to

If going for the Dreambox, you may be better with the DM600-C PVR ready. You may have difficulty finding a DM500 that isn't a clone.
