Is there a work round solution to use a working box which just has the ariel connector missing. Just snapped off, and was going to put on Ebay but thought I'd ask here first.

The one you mentioned from maplins ( Item FE98G ) . This an ideal upgrade and would secure itself the the box chassis for a more stable fit.

Remove the nut , stick the end through from inside the box then screw the nut back on , Then it is fully secure and going nowhere , unlike the original which just sticks through unsecured
