Hi,
A long time ago a friend and I modded a modem and it was fun but then we went all out and paid for our service ![]() Now it's too expensive and I keep getting capped, I want to bring my old 200 back to life but currently getting the Vm reg page. Now, I'm a bit confused about a few things: 1. If I currently connect the modem200 via Ethernet and load up Ambit 0.96 and click Read MAC Address I get TCP Connection Failed message. Is that what should happen? I honestly have tried finding more info on how to use Ambit Config Tool and that message but not gettign any specific on that err msg. 2. If I can get hold of another MAC Address can I just use Ambit Config Tool to update the MAC? 3. Is it safe to use DHCP Force using my subbed modem? I know it would only be stuf fon my gateway but I'd ike to practice. Thank you for any advise you can provide

right answer to question 1...u wanna check if your tcp/ip settings are correct..like look n see if your default ip is correct, not on the ip settings but on the modem itself.like 192.168.100.1 blah blah.and check your connection on your ethernet..like if its plugged in right
answer to question 2 yeah it will let u program the mac without all the script as long as all your settings are correct and question 3 using dhcp force or dhcp sniff is alright but brutefocing can bring attesion to yourself....but to be fair its the risk u run! |

Thanks for the reply pedro.
I no longer have an rs232 cable to check what settings are on the modem. Should i be able to telnet onto my sub and non-sub modems using HyperTerminal(TCP//IP)? I get a msg "Unable to connectto to 192.168.100.1 port 23" on HyperTerminal atm. At least then I will know if prob is with PC or modem. Also, with the non-sub Ambit200 I have, the fact I am forward to try and register the modem via the VM reg page, a good indicator that the modem has not been blocked? Is there anything else I can check? I don't know how much things have changed but I'm 99% sure when I modded the modem the first time we did that tries=0 command. IS that sufficient to stop firmware updates? Thank you for your help. Last edited by lisak; 26-07-08 at 03:53 AM. |

I think so for the time being the cmds work.the other thing i can think of about te lgging via telnetis is if the modem has been prograsmmed with a different addy for itself..like coz u get the option to set the ip to anything u want.sounds like to me mate better starting from scratch n getting hold of a rs232 cable...theres loads of guides out there just finding em
