Hey folks,
Ok, finally got round to ordering my penta and decided to go with a motorised solution.. question now is.. Which motor is best in your opinion, I'll be using it with the Passion HD box until I save the pennies for a TM box.. Option 1:Moteck SG2100 DiSEqC 1.2 Option 2: Super Dark Motor Metal Gear DiSEqC 1.2-1.3 Also, for fixing, are you better off with a T-K bracket or L type bracket (same type as a typical Sky install, just an extended version) Cheers Al

Go for the T&K's my preference is the Moteck, as its quiter than the dark super motor, also I have had my Moteck up now for 5 years without a problem. The Moteck has 1.3 USALS as well, as long as you go for the 2100a model

and use a short piece of scaffold pole unless the dish is going above the guttering, where 2 k brackets would be recommended to support the longer length of pole as for the diseqc motor, no idea as i don't use one |

Go for the Motek one mate. I have both the SG2100a and the SG2200 and i'm really happy with both of them
![]() The SG2200 is marginally quicker than the SG2100a and it is that bit louder but never the less they are both cracking motors ![]() My SG2100a has been up for about 12 months now and i have had no problems with it up to now ![]() As for the mounting its definately T & K all the way. Those L shape brackets just bend and then snap off. They are just not up to the job ![]() Make sure you use a metal pole and not aluminum. The aluminum pole will just crush down when you try to get the motor tight enough to stop it moving. ![]() Nano

I cut the L type arm in two and used that as a pole for the TK brackets assuming your installing the motor between the T & K

Great tip Satman, if you have one with a kit or going spare. ![]() Alternatively you can use scaffold pole, my local yard usually charges a quid a foot for any length he has.

surprised any one uses the l shape brackets as when i tried one it took me awhile to make it level
also when you get the t&k brackets buy the size larger in case you upgrade your dish/motor to a larger one in the future Last edited by wod; 26-07-08 at 05:55 PM. |

Also, if you use a L Type bracket and get it plumb before hand, you can bet your bottom dollar that when you mount the dish/motor on it, it throws it out. Only good for fixed set up.......... but they still sell them with motor kits
