Default skystar 1 card

Hi to everyone on here. I have just purchased what I believe to be a skystar1 card never seen one before so fingers crossed thats what it is.
The dvb card didnt come with original disc etc, but for twenty odd quid prepared to give it a go. The card has printed on the mainboard Sat-DVB Rev 1.6. it has Grundig 00036973 printed on the tuner with a single lnb input. The disc that came with it hasprinted on it skystar 1 PCI DVB card Installation software 2.0 8c. Also came with a printed sheet instruction Satsoft V.3 basically instructing user to install multidec 8.2, once loaded it instructs the user to edit the multidec.ini file with notepad.

What I want to know from you guys is the above software the most up to date or best to use for this DVB card. Is there a newer version of software more suitable or am I tied to using the above software.

Also in order to test the card for the moment, I already have a fixed 80cm dish with universal lnb pointed at Astra from an old sat receiver, have tested the dish it works RTL, Werbung etc etc are still there. Will this dish lnb suffice in order to test the card. Hope this makes sense. Many thanks in advance guys.

Hi, I know nothing about the software, but as long as the LNB is universal and the dish is aligned to a satellite, it will be fine. Presumably you have the dish on Astra (19E)?

Many thnaks for the reply robbo, it is pointed at Astra 19E. Have never set up a DVB card before, so to give myself the best chance of success setting up the card ,thought I would test the water on here to see what the best software setup is.

The skystar 1 card has not been sold for quite a time now although in its time it was far better than the SS2. The current software is 2.17d which has not been updated for about 3/4 years and works ok on windoze XP. I dont think there is a driver for Vista systems but you can get all the latest info here _http://www.technisat.com/index2b94.html?nav=Software_Drivers,en,39&download =detail&produktID=1069.
