Hey Guys,
I have just bought a ex5000, and got cable feed this morning, as you can all image the excitment of a new "toy". I have done a couple of power scans and only received 11 channels and only received 1 TP 118.000mhz on 6.952 are you meant to get more than only 1? I have tried changing this range and re-scanning but still nothing, any thoughts on what i am missing? the box has v1.0 not the 1.1 yet, but this shouldn't limit the amount of channels i can receive. i have the minimum VM pack in south london with all signal and quality at 80%+? Any thoughts?? Last edited by Steve V; 26-07-08 at 02:38 PM. |

as far as tps go that depends on several things including time of day you scan aswell as location i scan in around 40/43 tps and about 230/240 channels. try a factory reset and another scan without any splitters in line. |

Thanks for your advice....but have tried factory resetting and re-scanning on all 6.952,887,875Mbaud and still only get the same as original 1TP. spoke to the supplier (site sponsor) and they are not sure after doing the above why no channels are being picked up either, I would flash it to V1.1 but just realised that my laptop doesn't have the male connector required to flash it! any further thoughts? |

I had the same problem mate, you need to flash it to receive all the channels. Just buy a usb (male) to serial adaptor and it will work a treat. You may need to set the adaptor in device manager to com 1 for it to work.

there is a london file in the CDF files for eurovox thread, you could have a look of the frequencies and input them manually
try these for starters : 315000 - 323000 - 347000 - 355000 - 363000 |

having read all the forums on how to flash and update firmware threads in most forums...i thought this would be easy but alas..it doesn't seem that way!! As i have downloaded v1.1 and 1.1a for the ex5000, keeping my box connected to the cable feed the computer doesn't seem to receive the box signal?? do you need loading software before you can flash the boxes??? if so apart from using the bigmaq toolbar i can't seem to find it???
is there a trick to this as well?? Desperate!! |

Do NOT have cable feed connected. All you need to do is connect box to pc using rs232 lead and then flash with latest software which is found on other forums on here. Always flash before connecting to cable feed.
Hope this helps a little Im currently getting 259 channels with no gaps. you should get the same |

A quick update...I managed to find a USB to Serial adapter including CD rom to load the correct drivers and it still doesn't receive a signal from the box, so i am guessing the USB cable is faulty or it isn't converting the signal from serial to USB correclty.
I am borrowing a similar, adapter only (not cable version which i have tested on another application (so i know it works) and will try tonight, also making sure the same com ports are also the same from device manager and utilisation of the USB to serial port. Additional to: plug in>power scan>pick up channels>watch tv. As this didn't work on my machine (updated firmware to V1.0 only) I opted for inputting start frequencies in the "advance section" of a power scan of 125.000mhz, 119.000mhz through to 990.000mhz and pressing ok for london areas and it worked really well picking up a host of TP's and therefore about 235 channels. The strange thing is if I input 118.000mhz and then scanned it didn't pick up any channels but 119.000mhz did!!?? So if all else fails on the EX5000 boxs and you don't receive channels, I don't know if this is meant to be the way you fix problems, but it certainly got me my result and to me that is all that matters. |
