Default Triax 110 or Gibertini 100?

Especially for Robbo and others who have experience of either of these dishes, which would be the better buy? Aim is to receive some of Nilesat in North Kent.

First, is the gain/performance of one better than the other?

Second, I remember reading that the Triax 110 is a bit fiddly when tightening up the screws; how big a problem is this and how much does this give the Gibertini the edge if at all?

Both dishes in my opinion are pretty OK and perform about the same (although the Triax is slightly larger). The Triax El bracket when tightening up can throw alignment off but that's about it. Robbo has the 110cm receiving 7W I believe

Yeah that's right, I almost got the gibby but went for the Triax as Ian had them on offer and I got it within the hour.

Yes I do get most of the verticals on 7w including the MBC channels, at the moment, more or less 24/7.

If it is cloudy during the day, I get picture breakup, but in the evening cloudy is OK.

if it rains a bit during the day I'm stuffed, if it rains a bit later in the evening, sometimes it is OK, other times I get breakup. Keeping the LNB dry helps a bit.

If it rains properly, I lose it all.

When it is good I get 69% on my TM1000 for the MBC channels.

I also did get the Showtime horizontals once or twice.

The bracket on the back is still a pig though, it puts the elevation off when you tighten it, very annoying, but you get there in the end, It just takes a few goes to get it right. I take a note of the quality reading BEFORE tightening, and make sure it is the same AFTER tightening.

BigTee, whereabouts are you in North kent?, PM me, we must be VERY close.

go for the gibby 1m as i don't like the triax dish due to the elevation issue

if your going to try get nilesat vertical channels well some of them then you might be better to go for the 1.2m gibertini dish instead thats of course you can have it in your dish location

Thanks everyone; that has been very helpful. As ever, one or two more questions/clarifications though.

I assume that the Triax is heavier (being slightly larger); second, does the Gibby 100 come in Aluminiumn (I've heard that there are steel Gibby dishes)?

Purplemarina

Did your Gibby come with the feedhorn or did you buy it separately. If bought separately, where and how much?

The gibby is aluminium but its not so light because it has a big steel bracket.
