Default C1501 - safe to use?

Hi,

Sorry, a bit of a noob question here.

I ordered a Technotrend C1501 card as i would like to be able to watch the Vi*rgin media channels on my pc (my girlfriend is always hogging the tv)

i have the basic "M" subscription that comes free with the phone line, but from what i've read it looks like this C1501 will open up channels i would not normally have access to.

A friend told me today that all cable devices on Vi*rgin 'phone home' to tell Vi*rgin which channels i have access to. Does the C1501 do this as well and if so, how do i stop it from picking up the channels i'm not subscribed to?

there is no talkback on a dvb-c card the cc won't know it's connected, doesn't matter if you only view the channels ur subscribed to it's still illegal to connect any unauthorised device to a cable line......

if u dont use any de encryption method u will only see free-to-air channels with the card but this is less than freeview as vi*rgin for some reason add some freeview channels to their subscribed list.

if u want to stay legal get a Win TV NOVA-T-500 card connect it to a digi aerial and u will get all freeview tv and a twin tuner aswell.....

hi thanks for answering

i didnt know it was illegal to connect things to the cable line, i was going to ask if that is just vi*rgin who say that, but vi*rgin's all there is nowadays!

i suppose if it doesn't 'talk back' as you put it then they won't know if ive got something connected to it and it will still have the normal S.T.B. connected as well so i dont think that's much to be worried about.

wish me luck for when it arrives!
