Default Best Satellite card for Linux + where to buy!

Hello people, long time no speak!

I am fed up with missing stuff on the satellite cos of my family watching crap. I therefore want to have something I can hook up to a laptop/pc or even make a dedicated media pc so I can watch/record whilst holby sh*tty is on.

I am primarily a linux user so need a card that works relatively painlessly under linux, also would prefer USB if there are any decent stable ones that work under linux!

Also need to know a reliable, reputable place to purchase said item!

If USB versions are flaky I will live with a card....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ok, so I read all the info on this site and decided that the skystar 2 pci was the best option for me.

I searched on ebay and was tempted to by from an italian company, but found a second hand one (apparently in mint working condition) and won it for £27 inc postage.

aren't I the cheapskate!

Thats the way to do it.

Now download the Altdvb programme and off you go.

I am on linux so Altdvb no good is it? I got the card working on ubuntu with Kaffeine, just about to install myth tv.

Is it possible to open any scrambled channels on linux? I have my dish pointed at 13 e and 19.2 e
