Hi all
Many problems trying to set up the box but first things first. Is there a link/thread to identify if i have a clone or not. I can only find references to clones of red and blue boxes. Secondly i am not sure if the box already has the latest firmware. (If so i guess this makes the box not a clone) My versions are: S/w Ver 1.0STC4 Apr 11 2008 H/w Ver 2.0t K5 (or is it KS) Bootstrap V001 S/w Build Kuro Thanks in advance tho i am sure there will be supplementary questions once we get past first base |

The latest firmware for maxv is 18/04/2008 (although the one you have works) the latest one fixed a couple of minor bugs and is supposed to update quicker

OK. The box works but leaving aside the issue that only have limited channels at the moment which i can have a go at later the more important issue is:
Standard Box: works downstairs and upstairs Maxv: works downstairs and ALMOST works upstairs. Maxv Upstairs: The EPG will update OK and i can find channels OK but no picture - says no signal on the on screen display. Some channels will give a fleeting freeze frame picture. Standard box uses a -6db attenuator but seems to work OK with and without it both upstairs and downstairs. Using the attenuator on maxv doesn't seem to make a difference except: channel searching upstairs gives no difference with and without it but using it downstairs found a few more channels than not using it. The problem can only be a signal strength issue as far as i can see but what are the likely reasons for this and the solution options. Any help will be welcome |

what is your signal strength upstairs? menu/installation/user installation will give you a signal %
sometimes a signal what is too strong i.e. 93%+ can cause problems....there is a built in signal booster on the eurovox in the config/tv settings menu. turning this on or off could give you somewhere to start to address your problems. just a suggestion before you explore other possibilities Last edited by gazlw; 02-08-08 at 08:23 PM. |

With the booster off the signal level and quality will sit between 70 and 83% for about 3 seconds (green bar) and then go to between 10 to 30% for about 4 seconds (red bar) and seems to recycle this there and thereabouts. If i turn the booster on it stays red for about 90% of the time. If i search with booster on it finds less channels than when off. Also will only actually name very few channels when on. Is signal level issue a common one and what success have people had with attenuators which i believe can reduce the signal level

there are many posts on this forum about signal issues ect,, personally i have never had a problem... i run 2 eurovoxes an a splitter and everythings fine but it seems that there are many different issues that can cause signal problems. Dodgy cables/connectors can cause this along with dodgy splitters or antennuators....there is also a specific firmware with a fix for people who get a 8% signal issue on the new auto update firmware, im not sure if this firmware would help you or not, maybe worth a try. Also a reflash of the box can fix some issues too.
