Default sagem tuner change

quick question here, i've got a sticky sagem dbox, i've tried every image going and recon its a hardware problem, after looking at the tuner i have relised it needs to be soldered in, is a tuner change the only way to fix this or is there a chip that can be chaged, i think it may be just nokia chips that can be changed?the tuner's 35 quid from germany and i'm not sure if it has a warranty, it says 100percent tested.

Yes, i've tried every image going on it, the best being blade quad in gbox but still not great, this is a box i have for my grandad and my box is perfect on the same line in.
I checked the snr and think at the time it was good but went up and down a lot depending on the channel? The box is in bits now, i could put it back together and check snr but i do think its a hardware thing now but i'm open to suggestions.

i'd try a booster as it just may be a weak tuner...measure the snr b4 and after adding a booster- i've used a konig 'yellow brick' it doesn't amplify the noise as much as the cheaper ones....people use the argos ones mind and find them to be ok.

Try the Andromeda V2 sagem image from mercs.us , I had a "chirping" issue with my box, and this image cured it. I know everyone says their prefered image is the best, they could be right as everyone has a different experience of flashing different images etc.

Remember to Replace the AU rom files and switch to evocamd. also set the location to your area before scanning.

Right I've put it all back together and tryed a booster from argos slx signal booster, gain 10-20dB and still no joy!! heres the results.

Blade quad-gbox before boost
CHAN.......ber...... snr.......sig......bitrate
bbc1..max 50......63993...10023....3894
.........min .0.......63563....7710.....3677
with boost
bbc1.max.1300....63763...29041.....3934
.........min.100.....63280...29041.....3665
when jumping with evo
fam..max..1400....64197...30840.....5685
.......min....230....63786...30583.....1501

gbox is also jumping, snr is never under 62000 with or without booster but it still freezes Oh and i've tryed Andromeda V2 sagem with no joy but Im not sure if its from mercs.us? and another thing, i've been using the majic files which have worked fine with my own box, should i try just replacing the rom files?

any idea's guys, i'm thinking it could be something other than the tuner due to the snr being so high? The pictures perfect then every now and then it chips for a few minutes then its fine again, all the time snr is above 62000!

signal looks pretty strong, sometimes too a strong signals can cause problems similar to a weak signal, if u have one, try an in-line attenuator, if u aint got 1 their a couple of quid from fleabay a variable one may be better....

is there anyway to get gbox on the sportster image, sportster was ok but i think it would be better with g box, Ive adjusted the gain on the booster and its worse when the signal level drops so i don't think the attenuator would improve thing? Thanks for the help though guys.
