Default Starting from Scratch

Hi All
I found this site last week and it's opened my eyes. I'm in the process of buying a new HD tv, so I was looking at HD programmes. Don't like S*y, got rid of that in the 90's, so thought Freesat was the only other option. Doh as Homer would say. So my questions are: as I want HD programmes and lots of sports, what would be the best system in your opinion.

thanks in advance

To be honest the best option if you want lots of HD sports is Sky!

The HD offerings on Freesat are very limited at the moment.

I'm not bothered about all the sport being HD, I'll watch most sports on anything, but it would be nice to have more HD programmes to watch without paying a fortune.

You are still looking at Sky HD for the best choice - they will have 30 HD channels by the end of the year.

Thanks for that. The Digitalb looks good but I'd like to find out what else is out there also. What system would you suggest, I don't want to start at the bottom and have to upgrade as I get into a new hobby . So dish, HD receiver and motor etc

It's not like the other channels on DigitAlb that have 2 audio feeds then, 1 English and 1 Albanian? Been doing a bit more research today. Also found this on Orbitalsat uk.

Quote:
Warning - if buying Digitalb Cards for HD Channels the Broadcaster has made it clear all HD Channels are free in this Gold package for a short period of time. Digitalb cards will be paired and married with their own receiver later in the year and other HD Receivers will not open Digitalb Cards. You will need an official Digitalb HD receiver before long in order to open their HD Packages.
So might be a no goer for HD.
So can anyone suggest a system to start with to get me going? I've got all this enthusiasam but no suggestions what to start with.

No - one audio track only for the HD Albanian channels. You can check the audio details on this page:

http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/digitalb.html

third column from the right.

Before we can suggest anything we need to know EXACTLY the sorts of channels & languages you want (HD is a bit difficult at the moment as things are changing fast every week).

Sorry, I didn't realise I was irritating you. I'm new to this stuff. As I said before lots of sport, so looks like ART. Find anything else out there that interests me. Not bothered about xxx stuff. Mainly english but will watch foreign language. Was thinking about motorised dish (1m), hd receiver with usb and if to go with a twin lnb for future proofing while i'm at it. Who knows where it may go once I get further into it?
