Default Saving onto DVD from laptop

I am wanting to save a dvd i have stored on my laptop onto a disc.
I am using Philips DVD+RW discs.
Problem is, when i try to save to disc in the options menu, it always says there is no DVD in the tray.
When i put a rw cd in though, it picks it up, but thats no good cos there isnt enough room to store it on there
Any ideas what could be up?

You may need to format the disc first.

Personally Id avoid rw discs - its far too easy to overwrite them by mistake.

I have the same problem with DVD +RW discs in my Dell Dimension desktop. Ive given up with +RW discs and switched over to DVD-R one use discs.

Analoguesat is right, support for +RW on laptops drives has never been good
Stick with cheap DVD-R format, unless yours is a fairly old HP laptop, some early drives only support +R format

Just a thought....what operating system are you using? Pre Vista you'll need additional software to burn DVDs
