got the hardrive delivered today, how do i go about installing it,
do i just put it in? do i switch it off first? not a clue....

any help would be great

my guess is that you are talking about 5000 model. I will say just put it in there and it will work in almost every case.

Attach the tab to the drive so you can remove it again if necessary.
Turn off the box and push the HDD firmly into place.
Power on the box and then record something
