Are they on sale now or just returned as I did not see any on the LIDL website? Just want to buy one for my parents...

just a thought

and a merry xmas to you all
Hi andy,

Merry christmas.

Although I haven't had a dabble with the SL 'B1' for a while, yes it would seem that the 'E1' and 'B1' can currently receive about the same as most other stbs -which is not far off bugger all ATM.

£15 - absolute bargain mate.

Hey all,im new to this site ,and new to satellites too, cant beleive what i been missing.I ended up here after buying a tevion portable satellite for long fishing sessions and finding out i could be watching movies at the lake for free, wooot wooot.Anyway i opened up the unit to find an E1 chip,no heatsink though?I have got a 9 pin rs232 cable connected to my laptop but when i go onto the update software menu on the STB it fails to find/connect to the laptop.I Have tried running the truman firmware and where it says 'collect STB info' i just get a message saying 'transfer data failed'.Im gonna fire it up the wall soon, lol.Im thinking i may have to enable the com port on my laptop or assign it maybe??Is there any drivers needed to connect a STB??Any help much appreciated, many thanks.

I had a similar problem with laptop. It updated my Technomate fine via usb converter/RS232 but had no joy with Tevion B1.

I found that the only way it would work was to update using desktop pc rs232.

But a more recent loader does work with my lappy.

If you haven't already tried it, try 'Upgrade Tool v2.0.0b' on satboard forum.

I tried that one since my last post and torax but none of them seem to register the connection with STB.Im confused about switching on the STB at a particular time to connect to pc.If this is the case what is the software update option in the tools menu on the STB used for? Many thanks

The software update on the STB is probably just an option for the 'service engineer' to repair using official firmware, and is not used for upgrading.

You need to use a loader on your PC to communicate with the STB.
