Hi guys, ANOTHER newbie / convert here!
I have read LOADS of threads on this forum, but one thing I can't see is this. I understand the Eurovox (not bought one yet, still deciding if its right for me) box re-scans when required, to ensure your channels are kept up to date. If this is true, why is it necessary to update the firmware on the box? I want something as easy as possible to use, and am a bit worried that I need to be "fiddling" with the box on a regular basis. Hope someone can help. Cheers, Steve. |

It cant be any easier than using a Eurovbox, you just plug it in and scan, it may even come with the latest firmware already installed even...if not then you will have to download it onto the box yourself, this is because some months back the cable suppliers decided to do a blitz on the Eurovoxes to stop them being used illegally, and it worked for a while, all over the UK the boxes became useless...people began having nervous breakdowns
and this forum was deluged,it really was by people begging for help but of course everyone was in the same boat, nobody knew how to help then a few days later someone found a way round the problem sort of,and a bit later someone wrote some new software for the box that got round the problem permanently (for now at least) so thats it in a nutshell, your box might come with the latest software or it might not,and if it doesnt then you will have to download it yourself (its easy enough) if you need a recommended supplier then look no further than then our very own lincsat who is a member here and if you look in the stickies at the top of the forum you will see a link to his shop called lincsats nick nacks .......

Thats a brilliant answer mate, thank you!
And as I understand it, the box needs to rescan every now & then as the cable companies effectively "change" the way the channels are broadcast and the box recognises this & keeps up with the changes. Think I'm getting this lark! |
